Pecans Power Noosa Triathlon
Wow!! What a fantastic weekend of fun, sun and athleticism… Not to mention the fabulous Pecan Power Snacks!
Our Pecan Power teams and individuals performed extremely well with special mentions due to Rebecca Robb (2.18.45) who finished 11th in the Open Aged Women's category, Chris Coulter (2.15.52) for 41st place in the Men's 35-39 category, Andrew MacPherson who blitzed the swim in 20mins 45, and Peter (Wombat) Hunt who ran like the wind to cover the 10km course in a blistering 36mins 55.
Marketing Manager, Richard Sampson earned a more dubious distinction by wobbling through the 40km cycle with a broken axle on the Repco DeVille and finishing the run in a sombrero - not so smart into a headwind…(time withheld).
Plaudits, though, to special guest Kylie Watson from Nutworks who braved mountainous seas on Saturday afternoon to Pecan Power through the ocean swim in a very respectable 14.35 to finish 8th in her category. We'll try to organise calmer water next year, Kylie!
The supporters' crew, lead by Finishing Room Legend, Donna Watts, and transported by Sales Manager, Peter Wenham, were a resplendent sight in canary yellow and hollered and thumped enthusiastically for the Power Teams all morning. And much fun was had by all trackside on Saturday afternoon as the AFL legends, the 5km runners and criterium cyclists strutted their stuff up and down Noosa Parade. This last event was quite a sensation with favourite Robbie McEwen being beaten into second place by Allan Davis in the sprint to the line.
Most significantly of all, we had the opportunity to distribute more than 10,000 Pecan Power Snacks from our expo booth and courtesy of our Pecan Power guys and girls. Many thanks to all who contributed so generously their time and energy to this most important activity.
The lucky winner of the Stahmann Gourmet Hamper prize draw at the Noosa Triathlon was Mr Andrew Smith of Upper Kedron. Congratulations Andrew!
